Day 5: Sorrento to Assisi

I hadn't heard anything about Assisi before coming here, and I didn't think I had heard about the Franciscan Order of Monks either, which apparently began in Assisi. However, I had heard about St. Francis, who I've come to the conclusion is very cool. We also learned about St. Clare, a follower of St. Francis. She's also cool.

Also, the most beautiful man I ever saw in all of Italy was in this town. One minor (or major) drawback: he was a priest. It was so sad. His beautiful image will have to exist only in my memory, because I was not in the right frame of mind to snap a cheap shot (not to mention that would seem a little disrespectful: "Hey Father, you're hot, look this way so I can get a picture of you and show you to all of my Mormon girlfriends in Los Angeles!" - at least he most likely wouldn't have understood the English...). Here are some pictures I was able to take:

I almost missed this shot, but it ended up being one of the favorite pictures I took.

Fresco of St. Clare, Mary, and St. Francis.

Friars! Something you don't get to see everyday. And these friars were totally walking around with their backpacks and large cameras like they were tourists. It was awesome.
