Day 7: Florence

The day started off with a walking tour... The tours hadbeen relatively interesting up until Siena. After that, I don't really remember any of the walking tours we went on. We stopped by the Uffizi Gallery, and the tour guide had mentioned that the line was an hour and a half. I already knew the line would be long, and I also knew this was one of the few things I wanted to do in Florence. It ended up being fabulous. The most famous work was probably The Birth of Venus, by Botticelli. It was weird to be staring at a world famous painting. The Venus herself was actually very beautiful. I also had the chance to later see the David, by Michaelangelo. There were replicas all over, but it's true what they say: he is breath-taking in person. The real statue was so pristine, and so detailed, down to the veins on his hands. It's definitely worth the entrance fee to see it if you find yourself in Florence.

The picture doesn't even come close to show you how intricate this Cathedral was.

This picture was probably illegally taken ... but I had to prove I was inside the Uffizi! (The picture was taken away from all paintings and with no flash...)
After a long day of waiting in lines we took a trek up to Michaelangelo's Square which has a beautiful aerial view of Florence. That's proof I made it alive!

Aerial shot of Florence. Beautiful city.
