Thought I'd try positive DCFS news

So, after hanging out with the lovely Krystle and Brett during the Foster Wedding reception, Krystle suggested I maybe write the positive stories about DCFS.  Who would have thought that people would want to hear the success stories?  Well, I thought a good start would be PCP mom.  The original post about PCP mom is here.  To summarize a bit because it's a long story, PCP mom, as you might imagine, used PCP, got her kids taken away during a police raid of her house where they found all sorts of drugs and high powered rifles, and was just in complete denial.  The full summary of her "excuses" for positive drug tests are in that link.

Well, PCP mom got right on board with doing all that the court asked her to do.  I was really hoping to return her kids to her after 6 months.  However, PCP mom then decided to get arrested for possession of cocaine.  Needless to say I wasn't her favorite person.  However she continued her drug program, and I think really began to take ownership for her actions.  I think she realized that she couldn't play games when it came to her kids.  Whenever I came to the home after that, there wasn't nearly as much traffic going in and out of the home.   So, in January, she got her kids back.  And I have to say that I've been quite impressed with how on top of things that she has been since they have been back.  She's made sure to get on top of their educational meetings, taking them to the doctor, handling their behavior.  Her kids have been really happy to be home.  So, this July, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I'll be closing her case!  So, there's a story of someone who I really thought was just going to let her kids go, I thought her kids would "graduate" from foster care, but fortunately, I was wrong!
