Costa Rica: Day 3 - Embarking on our Journey!

Woke up early to catch public transportation to Tortoguero.  The scenery on the first bus ride was amazing.  We were riding along lush, steep cliffs that in many ways reminded me of driving through the windy roads of northern Californian forests.  However, these were huge tropical plants and there would be the occasional mini-waterfall.  I couldn't capture any pictures as the bus was moving too quickly, so I just enjoyed the view.  Finally, we got to the water front and took a boat ride to our final destination, Tortuguero.  It was so gorgeous and it was awesome to finally see a rainforest with my own eyes.  We saw a lot of animals on the way: Crocodiles, iguanas, egrets, herons.
There was a crocodile here that just got camera shy by the time I got my camera out and turned on... (You can still see its tail)

Everything is delivered to Tortoguero by boat (okay this isn't a delivery boat, but I did see some on the way).

General prettiness

I'm impressed with myself for capturing some reflection in the water, boo-yah!
We finally arrived at our hotel, which was just gorgeous and resort-ish.  There was a really nice pool, and at night there were musicians performing, including a HOT Costa Rican man.  It started raining all of the sudden.  And when I say all of the sudden, I mean it.  One minute, we were chilling by the pool soaking in the sun and within 3 minutes, it was torrential downpour.

Can you see the scary arachnid?  (Don't look, Jenna!)

Can you find the giant iguana?

Can you find the hot Costa Rican man?  Hint, he's teaching my tourmate how to play the bongos...

I may not have received the private tutelage of a hot Costa Rican man, but I think I picked up some basics pretty quickly.

The torrential downpour was actually a little romantic.
