Costa Rica: Day 6 - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

I've been so bad about updating this trip I took way back in February, so by now for sure no one cares but I feel committed to finish what I started, and to do so before my next trip to England in July!  :)  Anyway, we headed out to Puerto Viejo on Day 6.  I spent the day with a good group of girls on a special tour so we could learn more about one of the indigenous tribes in Costa Rica and go to a pretty water fall!

Hut-type-thing.  I think Banana leaves were used as the roof?

One of the tribes we learned about helps to regrow the green iguana population.  Apparently they are vital to the rainforest and this is an effort to create a sustainable population to help keep rainforests healthy.  This is a cute "teenage" iguana.

Grown up iguanas in the wild, but still kinda visiting their home fort.

this is hands down the ugliest picture of me ever, but I am eating a water apple here which is the closest thing I've seen to looking like the forbidden fruit

Pretty waterfall!

River bank.

Waterfall + river = prettiness!
As part of this day, we had the most wonderful tour guide who was so passionate about her country and about the environment.  I wish I had gotten a picture of her but I didn't.  After this sight-seeing, we ended our evening actually in Puerto Viejo.
